"True Blue" Jungle Brothers

One of the most authentic and multifaceted band of hip hop of the world. In their lps and  remixes you can find real rap music, through Jungle, House or Jazz and everything with a great personality, but especially unquestionable quality. By JL ELEBEN

"The Message" Jaylib

by SOUNDFELLAS | 0 comentarios

Back in 2003, J Dilla was better known as Jay Dee, the Detroit producer widely respected in Hip-Hop, but lesser known in his solo career. Madlib was an up.and-coming L.A producer making a name of himself with his wild diversity from rap to electronic jazz to remixes projects few knew who "jaylib" was and many of those who did felt that Champion Sound album wasn't given the atention is deserved when it was originally released.

This song is not included on the Jaylib Champion Sound album, it´s was a mix cd made for Peanut Butter Wolf for some song UK company. Since they had some extra room on the vynil, they decided add some songs, and one of this was " the Message" , a demo madlib recorded over a Jay Dee beat. Stones Throw credited the song to Jaylib. The result was unexpected. Check it Yourself...!!!

It`s Real “ Hot 8 Brass Band”

by SOUNDFELLAS | 0 comentarios

The members of the Hot 8 were all born and raised in new Orleans. Many of them began playing together in high school. In 1995 they came together and began playing traditional New Orleans brass band music professionally.
Founded by bennie Pete, Jerome Jones and Harry Cook in 95', the band has played in traditional Second Line parades hosted each sunday by a Social Aid Pleasure Club ever since. The Hot 8 are famous for playing all day in the sun, then hopping to a club gig and playing throught the night. But even more than their boundless energy, what makes The Hot 8 special are the sounds they coax from their well-loved, well-worn horns.

Sylvia Striplin You Can't Turn Me Away

by SOUNDFELLAS | 0 comentarios

Vocalist Sylvia Striplin joined Aquarian Dream for the jazz-funk/disco group's second album and stayed with them through their early-'80s breakup. Shortly after that, she became associated with Roy Ayers and his Uno Melodic label; not only was she part of the short-lived Eighties Ladies project guided by Ayers (which released a lone album, Ladies of the '80s, on Uno Melodic in 1980), but she also released some solo material with significant help from the jazz-funk legend. An excellent single with "Give Me Your Love" as the A-side and "You Can't Turn Me Away" was released by 1980 on Uno Melodic. A follow-up album was released roughly a year after the single. Though Striplin never attained mainstream success, her sweet voice is instantly recognized by devout fans of jazzy R&B and those who made up England's "rare groove" scene of the early '90s. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
