Quentin Harris & Aaron Carl--Apologize Raw cut

by SOUNDFELLAS | 0 comentarios

Quentin Harris.
The resurrected Strictly Rhythm label has been keeping the flame alive for their particular brand of soulful New York house. Harris has provided plenty of fuel over the years, for instance with 2006's No Politics and his residency at the legendary Manhattan club Shelter. This time around, he's teamed up with a raft of different vocalists, including Ultra Nate, Inaya Day and even a spoken word artist, Koffee. As the recent teaser trailer shows, Harris will go to some lengths to prove his reputation as a provocateur, and the album itself ranges from upbeat house to a slightly harder edged electro funk, a sound fellow New York house stalwart Danny Tenaglia has dubbed "hard and soul." Sacrifice also shows Harris working mostly with male vocalists, in an attempt to redress what he considers an imbalance favoring the house diva, from resident advisor.

 Aaron Carl
This track is featured on Quentin's upcoming album, "Sacrifice." It's one of many tracks we are working on together. I LOVE working with him -- our energies mesh SO WELL! It's so funny because when you hear the track, you get us BOTH, doing what we do... u know? Q being Q, and me being me. It's a beautiful thing... :-) PS: This isn't the final artwork, by the way... Just a little something 2 look at while the track is playing.. :-)

Anthony Hamilton - Ain't Nobody Worryin'

by SOUNDFELLAS | 0 comentarios

Amid the scores of albums by contemporary soul brothers, Anthony Hamilton's beautiful Comin' From Where I'm From is one of the few that actually captures the essence of soul's golden age in the late '60s and early '70s. Rich, gritty and sexy as hell, his beautiful voice and equally beautiful songwriting are infused with convincingly wise-beyond-his-years grit that evokes-more than a little- Bill Withers, Bobby Womack and the like. But unlike most of today's big-throated thrushes, Hamilton is a real musician: equally proficient as a writer, singer and producer, he can front a band as well.
"My album is honest soul music. The records are straight to the point, raw, and organic," says Hamilton. "It's not neo," he stresses. "When I think of neo, I think of neon, like it's gon' glow in the dark or something. My sh*t ain't glowin' in the dark. It's just really good music."

Gang starr- full clip (OLD SCHOOL HIPHOP)

by SOUNDFELLAS | 0 comentarios

Around the end of the 90's, we used to play the real hip hop like this example of gang starr-full clip, then something strange happened and the thing was mixing styles to end up seeing snoop sing in a video with Kate Perry ... before hip hop ... hip pop now? = (

Contexterror label owner shows us her sexy side with this Can't forget.
A piano in the style old school style, with dark bass and a voice that keeps you awake until the end. Their only 114 bpm's are enough to create a fascinating groove.

Alkalino & Blacklodge - breaking bad (Bartellow remix)

by SOUNDFELLAS | 0 comentarios

Wow, what a remix. Munichʻs very own Bartellow delivers a fantastic remix for the collaboratory project of Munichs Alkalino and Brightons Blacklodge. Good news is that they both just launched a label called „ „, on which this nugget will see the light alongside the original and 2 more remixes. Bartellow also gives us an inside into his gear and production techniques: “I used a Emu Drumulator (all Drumsounds except some HiHats from the original), Sequential Circuits Pro One (Melody), Korg Polysix (Pads), Crumar Multiman (Brass)“. Nice!!!
